Hey guys! If you think you’ve had a crazy day, think again, because today takes the cake – or should I say, the pizza. 🍕

It all started this morning when Mom announced that it was FAMILY BONDIG DAY. Ever heard of such a thing? I’m sure every kid dreams of this on a Sunday. But instead of something fun like the movies or an amusement park, Mom had this brilliant idea to try a fancy, French-style pizzeria in the heart of Liverpool. She saw it in a YouTube video, of course.

Fun, right? Yeah, because every kid loves getting dressed up in silly clothes and bumping along for three hours crammed with their siblings just for a piece of pizza. 🤦‍♂️🚗🍕

I know it sounds crazy, but trust me, nothing is normal in my family. So, we all piled into the minivan – Dad, who was grumbling about missing his football game; Sasha, who wore headphones and pretended we didn’t exist; and Junior, who was waving his fork around like a maniac – and the rest of us in line. And then there was me, trying to figure out how I ended up here, and how a pizza could cost this much.

I mean, does it come with a car or something? 🤑

When we got to the restaurant, it felt like we walked into a fancy art museum. Chandeliers, velvet curtains, and a guy in a tuxedo playing the piano. I felt like we were total strangers in a foreign country, especially when Mom started taking pics of everything like we were on a tour. 📸

The waiter, who clearly wished he was somewhere else, handed us the menu, and there it was, the 3600-pound ($5000) pizza. Truffles, gold flakes, cicada, some weird caviar – I didn’t even recognize half of these ingredients. Sasha was already joking that they probably tasted like burnt broccoli soup. 🤢🍽️

Mom decided she had to try it, saying it was a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. Dad’s face turned the color of tomato sauce as he reluctantly handed over his credit card. I could almost see the tears in his eyes. 💳

While we waited for the pizza, Junior decided it was the perfect time to show off his newly discovered talent for stabbing things with a fork. First the tablecloth, then Dad’s napkin, and finally my hand. And of course, Mom didn’t notice ’cause she was too busy taking selfies with the giant chandelier. Seriously, it was like she had discovered one of the seven wonders of the world. 

The pizza finally arrived and… if I say it was small, that’s an understatement. I mean, for that kind of money, I expected something the size of a car tire, but this was smaller than an average pizza. Sasha burst out laughing, which made the waiter look even more annoyed. 😆🍕😤

And are those bugs on top?

As we all took a bite, the room went silent. The pizza tasted like… nothing, nada. Seriously, it was like chewing on a piece of oatmeal-flavored cardboard. Mom tried to put on a brave face and said it was “exquisite,” but even she couldn’t finish her slice. 🤐🍕😬

Dad, on the other hand, looked like he was about to collapse. He kept muttering about how he could have bought a new color TV, a little bed for Sir Puff, or a family trip to Hawaii to finally see real volcanoes. Sasha was still laughing, and Junior moved on to stabbing the leftover pizza with his fork. 📺🐱

FYI, we stormed out of the restaurant, totally annoyed. Everyone was fuming, except Mom, who called it a “memorable experience.” Dad kept grumbling, “Don’t trust every YouTube video, honey!” We were starving, so we hit Lonely Wanderers for our usual giant pepperoni pizza. It was on sale for 10 bucks. Score! 🎉

So, that’s how our expensive pizza adventure ended. Pro tip: if someone offers you cicada and truffle pizza, RUN!! 🍕🏃‍♂️
